Joyce Neu speaks at mediation seminar to launch a new unit at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of Rio de Janeiro

A seminar on mediation, “The Global South Unit for Mediation:  Challenges and Potentialities” was convened by the new Global South Unit for Mediation (GSUM) to exchange knowledge and practice in the area of international conflict resolution and mediation.  Mediation specialists from Africa, the Americas, and Europe took part in the seminar.  Joyce Neu spoke on mediation as a conflict resolution tool.

GSUM is the result of a partnership between the Institute of International Relations of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (IRI/PUC-Rio) and the Royal Embassy of Norway in Brazil.  GSUM is a learning, research and training platform designed to promote the diffusion of knowledge and expertise on international mediation among scholars, diplomats, governmental officials and non-governmental actors from the Global South.  For more information, see http://www.iri.puc-rio.br/g-sum.
