Syrian women and men take part in 3-day negotiations training

Joyce Neu led a 3-day negotiations training for representatives of the Syrian Women’s Network, a network that includes Syrian NGO leaders, human rights activists, lawyers, judges, doctors, engineers, journalists, and other Syrians committed to a democratic transition. The training took place in Gaziantep, Turkey, close to the Syrian border.  It is likely that some of the participants in the training will be present in Geneva for the next phase of peace talks on Syria.  The Women’s Democracy Network of the International Republican Institute organized the workshop and has been key in creating and supporting the SWN (which includes men).  The Women’s Democracy Network invited Joyce to lead the workshop with Julie Harrison, a key actor in the Northern Ireland peace process that resulted in the Good Friday Agreement.
