Joyce Neu participates in meetings on the conflict in Syria; speaks at Bologna Symposium

Joyce recently took part in two working meetings on Syria in Washington, DC.  In mid-July, she participated in, and helped facilitate, a meeting entitled, “Building More Inclusive Political Transitions:  A Review of the Syrian Case,” that was convened by the International Civil Society Network for Women’s Rights, Peace, and Security (ICAN); the Institute for Inclusive Security, and the Nonviolent Peaceforce.  The goal of this meeting was to examine how to get key civil society actors to the table to be part of decision-making processes leading to more peaceful, just, and sustainable transitions.  In late May, Joyce took part in a working meeting on negotiation theory and practice with an eye on future possible talks on Syria.

In June, Joyce returned to Bologna for the 4th time to speak at the International Peace & Security Institute’s Conflict Prevention, Resolution, & Reconciliation Symposium where she gave talks to participants from about 30 countries on the topics of international mediation and gender and peacemaking, and led a mediation strategy case study exercise.
