Sri Lanka post-war: Listening and learning from Sri Lankans

Young women learning violence against women is not acceptable.

Through the U.S. State Department’s Experts’ Program, Joyce Neu traveled to Sri Lanka to give talks and speak to different groups on peacebuilding, mediation, and gender.   In Colombo, she took part in the Sthree Mela, a three-day conference in Colombo celebrating Sri Lankan women’s accomplishments and spoke at the International Center for Ethnic Studies on rebuilding human infrastructure.  She traveled to Jaffna where she gave talks and met with academics, teachers, students, and female youth (aged 16-25) and spoke at the U.S. Embassy-sponsored American Center.
