Training on women’s inclusion in mediation and peace processes

Joyce Neu was pleased to provide training on gender and mediation for local officials and NGO representatives from three inter-ethnic communities in Macedonia in late October working with the Macedonian Institute for Social, Political, and Juridical Research at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje; the UN Development Program; and UN Women.

In November, at the invitation of UN Women, Joyce traveled to Zimbabwe to work with members of the Joint Implementation and Monitoring Commission (JOMIC), a commission created by the Global Political Agreement of 2008, following disputed elections.  The two-day workshop focused on sensitization on mediation and the role of gender in political decision-making.  A one-day workshop for the Women Coalition of Zimbabwe, a network of more than 80 organizations and 200 individuals, offered training on mediation processes and the role of third parties as well as advocacy for women’s inclusion.
