Working with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva, FP Associates are assisting the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States in strengthening their conflict prevention and/or mediation support capacities.

Eileen Babbitt has been consulting with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (Geneva) to assist the African Union in strengthening its mediation support capacity; the Centre has contracted with Joyce Neu to facilitate an ECOWAS needs assessment workshop in Lagos in early September whose aim is to identify priorities for advancing conflict prevention (note:  workshop postponed until October 2011).

Joyce Neu took part in the Oslo Mediators’ Forum in June and spoke on gender roles in peacemaking and the professionalization of mediation. From there she gave a guest lecture at the International Peace & Security Institute’s Bologna Symposium, affiliated with the Nitze School for Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
